Barrhead United have 6 voluntary youth development coaching positions at the club for the two teams we have currently in operation. As the Club matures, we hope to add additional age groups to our portfolio, dependant on our ability to attract and retain quality coaches in the local community. This page provides information relative to the coaching techniques employed by Barrhead United, some background to the coaches themselves and their experience in working with children in the game.

The coaching role is to create an atmosphere where young players can express themselves and enjoy their football education. This will be achieved by mutual respect between players and coaching staff along with the high standard of teaching and coaching input by the coaches to the relevant age levels. The role is also to provide a model pathway for learning and development of youth players such that the opportunity for quality players to sign for Alloa Athletic Football Club is achievable.

Barrhead United operates under a strict code of conduct which is identical to that employed by Alloa FC under the terms of our partnership. Part of the code of conduct is related to how our Coaches should be expected to behave, and we would encourage all parents to review this in line with their own expectations. All of our Coaches are either Disclosure Scotland checked already or have signed a self disclosure declaration in line with SYFA rules. Those Coaches not Disclosure Scotland checked are scheduled to gain their certification at the next ERSDA organised event in January 2010.
