11.10.2009 - BARRHEAD UNITED ON PULSE FM.
On Sunday 11th October, Scott Allison from the Club was invited along to the Barrhead local community radio station, Pulse FM to do an interview with DJ Dave Dewhurst. We achieved our aim of promoting the Club within the local community and putting our information to parents and potential sponsors about how to get in tocuh via the web site. Scott also had to sit through a spiritual reading during the interview, which revealed that he has too much salt, and has muscular pain across his chest...time for a check up big man !!
We will be putting a recording of the interview onto a new media section of the web site which is in the design stages at the moment. Watch this space for more info

29.08.2009 - TEAM UPDATE
The 2002 teams played at Netherlee on Saturday 29th August. Both teams performed well, losing their first two games but both winning their final game.
Well done to both teams; we can really see an improvement week over week in terms of how the teams are coming together, and the players taking in the coaching which they are being given and taking that out to their games on a Saturday. The important thing at this age group is getting the players to understand the shape of the team and the importance of keeping the shape and positions. If we keep this and teach them some of the basic skills, this will stay with them and stand the players in good stead as they progress to older age groups.
So for parents, don't worry about the teams not winning all of their games at this age group, it really is not about that. If we install the basics of the game into the players at this age, the results will take care of themselves as they progress.
13.08.2009 - SOUP STOP FUNDRAISER
The Club has received a donation of £300 from the Soup Stop fund raising day at Bourock Church in Barrheead. We would like to offer our sincere thanks to the volunteers at Bourock for all their hard work on behalf of the Club and for making the day a great success. Special thanks go to Linda Dye and Maureen McBeth for helping us utilise the Soup Stop for the benefit of Barrhead United
Thanks also to all parents and players for their support on the day and to DHL for the provision of prizes for the "Beat The Goalie" tournament. We had to give away more toy trucks than we thought due to the poor goal-keeping performance of Coach Simpson !!
We have also received from good press via The Barrhead News for both the Soup Stop and Barrhead United Football Club as a result.
Again thanks to all involved for making this event such a success !! |
