Expectations of Scouting Staff at Alloa FC.

As part of our Partnership with Alloa Football Club, Barrhead United coaches will act as Community Scouts on behalf of Alloa.  In line with this, Barrhead United Scouts operating on behalf of Alloa FC must follow the guidelines set by Alloa FC relative to engagement with players, parents and clubs.

Protocol for Approaching Players, Parents and Clubs

         -      All scouts and coaches must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check.

         -      Identification cards to be issued and carried by the club official.

         -      Professional club must contact the Boy’s Club direct by whatever means email, telephone, letter or person.

         -      If this approach is to be done personally then the identification card must be shown.

         -      On no account should an Alloa Athletic FC official contact a young player direct.

         -      If, when seeking permission, a club is refused, David Little, Secretary, Scottish Youth FA, should be contacted with an explanation of the reason given.

         -      The professional club should contact the parent or guardian and not the child.  Contact information should either be given by the Boy’s Club or the

professional club should arrange a meeting between the professional club and the parent and guardian.

         -      A register of all scouts operating at Youth Initiative club level must be lodged with the Scottish FA.

         -      The Scottish Youth FA will extend provision on its website to list these clubs and scouts.
